Sultanahmet Cuisines: Arabic

About

The stars have so far aligned for this relatively new upstart. The menu features an unusually broad selection of kebaps, pides, and salads. Still, my advice is to order one of the stew-like regional dishes. One such delight is keldos -- a delicious concoction of lentils and beef à la Van from Eastern Turkey. Or the orman (forest) kebap -- a stew of lamb, chick peas, potatoes, and carrots. The narrow entry and large steam pans conceal a clean and comfortable, enclosed, open-air dining room at the rear (enclosed in winter).
