Life abounds in the tidal pools near Moss Beach. Here, at low tide on the rocky shores of the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve , visitors can peer down and gaze upon everything from lavender sea stars to chartreuse sea anemones. There are sea urchins, hermit crabs, sea cucumbers and even the occasional gaggle of California sea lions. Rangers lead free guided hikes on some of the lowest tides of the year. The golden rule of tide-pooling: Look, just never touch.
