As in other cities across China, the main shopping street through Shenyang has been closed to auto transport and made a pedestrian street. With a variety of department stores, international and local boutiques, street entertainment, and food selections ranging from high brow international chains to modest northern kabob stands, Taiyuan Street is a must see on any visit to Shenyang. Just people watching can be an enjoyable pastime, but if you are looking for something more involved, check out the many cafes, billiard halls, pubs and more along the street. At the intersection of Zhongshan Lu and Taiyuan Street there is a crowded night market.
