From 7 June to 21 September, the architectural exhibition SWEETS shines a light on an often-unsung aspect of the cityscape: Amsterdam’s bridge control buildings, which used to house the operators who would open and close the canal bridges. Artist Kaita Shinagawa (Studio KU+) has created scale models and, for the first time, all of the buildings can be seen together as a single ensemble. These provide an overview of various architectural styles, from Amsterdam School to Modernism.
