Tucked inside a grand, cupola-topped school building (circa 1911), the Sacramento Valley Museum in Williams boasts some rescued bits of the Valley’s marvelous past. Exhibits mark famous alums of the former Williams High School, such as jazz musician Turk Murphy, and an impressive collection depicts rural California life. For kids used to texting on cell phones, the party line telephone switchboard is a revelation, and parents oh-so familiar with the blandness of today’s strip shopping malls become nostalgic at the quaint Main Street merchants display.
