One of the most famous attractions in Pondicherry, the Statue of Dupleix remind you of the strong French connection associated with Pondicherry. The statue is dedicated to Francois Dupleix, the Governor General of French establishment in India. It was built in honour of the Governor in the year 1870 who reign was from the year 1742 to 1754. It is a beautiful example of French architecture and you can see the intricate granite columns which adorn the statue. It is commonly known as Dupleix statue and draws a lot of tourists all day long.
