About

St Paul's Presbyterian Church was constructed in 1887-89 to the design of the prominent colonial architect, F.D.G. Stanley. Much of the stone for the present building came from the demolished Creek-street Presbyterian Church, where the congregation (affiliated with the United Presbyterian Church of Scotland) had worshipped since 1863.The site of the Creek Street Presbyterian Church was sold to the Queensland National Bank in July 1885, and the opening services at St Paul's were conducted on 5 May 1889. In the meantime, the brick and stone Sabbath School, erected on the corner of the present site in 1886, served as a temporary church.
