St Patricks Catholic Church is a magnificent Gothic style church built at the turn of the century using local limestone. Towering over its neighbours in Fremantle, the place of worship is a significant landmark of this coastal town. As you enter St Patricks your eyes will be drawn to the spectacular vibrant tapestry hanging above the pulpit at the front of the church. Crafted in Ireland, the enormous work of art is 50 square metres. Made of Australian wool, it weighs nearly one tonne. Study the symbolism within the tapestry and the intricate detail of the talented artist who designed the Fremantle Icon. Enjoy the changing colours as the sun shines down through the magnificent stained glass windows that feature throughout the old church.
