The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church also known as the Malankara Syrian Catholic Church is an Eastern Catholic Church in full communion with the Bishop of Rome, the Pope . It is one of the 22 sui iuris Eastern Catholic Churches in the Catholic communion. It is a Major Archiepiscopal Church headed by a Major Archbishop . The current Major Archbishop is Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos , who was elected in 2007. The church follows the West Syrian Rite liturgy, which is also used in the Maronite and Syriac Catholic Church .
