St. Mary's Forane Church

One of the oldest churches in India, St. Mary Forane Church was built in 1870, and is famous for its beautiful murals and sculptures. Situated on the bank of the backwaters about 11 kilometers from Allepey, St. Mary Forane Church is also known as the Champakulam Church. The church is not only an architectural marvel but also a fine specimen of Christian heritage in India. Remember that it is compulsory to remove your shoes before entering the church as a mark of respect.
