About

An architectural marvel structured in the form of a Latin cross, you'll enjoy the beautifully crafted stained glass windows here at St Joseph's Church. In 1825, Father Francisco da Silva Pinto e Maia founded the Portuguese Mission on the site where St Joseph's Church now stands.

The old church building, which was the first place of Catholic worship in Singapore, was demolished in 1906 and the new church was opened in 1912. The best time for you to visit St Joseph's Church is around Good Friday, when the Catholic community in Singapore commemorates the crucifixion of Christ with a heady procession through the grounds of this church.
