While many people visit the Florida Keys for water-based activities, others seek out new and picturesque places to indulge in their favorite sports, and passionate golfers can find unique courses to play throughout the island chain. Sombrero Golf and Tennis Country Club, named after the famed Sombrero Lighthouse off Marathon, it features an 18-hole course open to visiting enthusiasts when accompanied by a member or exercising reciprocal privileges. Designed by Mark Mahannah, ASGCA, the course was opened in 1965 and is rated 70.6 with a slope rating of 127 on Bermuda grass. Total of 6,469 yards from the longest tees for a par of 71. The Club currently has partnerships with resorts and vacation rental companies for Keys visitors wanting to play a round or hit the clay for a few games of tennis.
