Skerries Sailing Club in North County Dublin offers a complete range of sailing courses for all ages, bringing the completely inexperienced up to a competent sailor. The club supplies all the necessary equipment such as; boat, wetsuit, buoyancy aid for classes. Courses are from the Irish Sailing Association’s syllabus and instructors are highly qualified and experienced.A two day Start Sailing Course for beginners is operated using the syllabus of Irish Sailing Association (ISA). Starting at the very beginning and assuming that all participants have no previous dinghy sailing experience but are happy to give dinghy sailing a go and explore the thrills of sailing a boat in sheltered waters. The Improvers Sailing Course is the best way to quickly improve on sailing skills and aims to improve boat handling techniques and expand on the range of weather and wind conditions. Powerboating classes are available from the one day Introduction to Powerboating where students learn to operate both tiller-arm and centre console-planning boats, and learn the basics, to the National Powerboat Certificate Learn where students learn how to prepare, launch, operate and recover a small open powerboat and achieve the ISA's National Powerboat Certification. The club offer a combination of boats from the small Topaz dinghy – which is a versatile and virtually indestructible dinghy with either one or two sails, to the Topper Omega – a large two to three man dinghy with up to three sails and trapeze. Newcomers to sailing are warmly welcomed.Different types of membership are also available to suit all needs. Dinghy and keelboat racing for adults and juniors takes place up to three times weekly in season.Parking bays are allocated to members once they have paid their membership fees and received their parking stickers.The Club house is available for birthday parties, christenings, and other celebrations as well as conferences, training sessions or product launches.
