About
Spend a day exploring the booming Central Valley campus.
A visit to the 388-acre main campus and 1,011-acre University Farm at California State University, Fresno , turns up a host of fun activities—definitely a worthy detour off nearby Highway 99. First, step inside the Rue and Gwen Gibson Farm Market , where you can sample and buy food products—all made by students. Load up on award-winning wine, olive oil, nuts, honey, sausage and other meats, organic produce, and even ice cream. At Pete Beiden Field, settle down with a hot dog and root for the home team, the Fresno State Bulldogs , during baseball season, usually February through May. Football fans, head to Bulldog Stadium to see the Fresno men battle other college teams, usually September to December. Also check out Downing Planetarium , a 74-seat star theater, where computer-run projectors unveil the night sky during scheduled weekend shows; call ahead for schedule, (559) 278-4121.
