Simonsberg Theatre
Simon's Town, South Africa
About
The handsomely restored Simonsberg Theatre is nestled in the heart of the historic Simon's Town Naval Dockyard. The theatre was used as a torpedo store during the Anglo Boer War (1899-1902), and in 1948 became the home of the Anchor Players. This was a lively amateur theatre group, who presented plays for the entertainment of the local populace. At that time, only naval personnel and their wives could become members, but recently the rules changed to allow civilians onto the theatre group. Enjoy entertainment varying from the SA Navy Band to light opera, way-out comedies and Shakespeare. There is secure parking and seat prices are kept low.
