The Fort is situated near the Shirgaon Beach. It is said the Fort was used by Maratha ruler, Shivaji and was formerly used to keep a check on the opponent lines and progress.One of the most vital features of the fort is the lush green palm farms which look very attractive. Shirgoan Fort is 200 ft tall, 150 ft. wide and is built in red stone. Nearby is the Shirgoan Beach, which is a major fishing centre of Maharashtra. Lined with palm trees, the beach serves as a popular recreational spot for Mumbaikars and other tourists.
