About
Shimoni was the Key slave port of the past century together with zanzibar and mombasa among other coastal towns. at the entry of europeans to east africa, Slave trade was outlawed but the unscruplous arab slave merchants had to device ways or evading the hawk eyed patrols by british navy along the coast. The caves were used as warehouses for slaves awaiting transportation at the pitch of the darkness.
