About

Sherkin Island Summer Art Workshop brings together, for a five-day period (Monday to Friday), experienced, beginner and emerging artists who have a common interest in art. Hosted by established artist Majella O'Neill and colour consultant and mural artist Cora Collins, this is a wonderful creative holiday experience you will love and long to return to year after year. It is an all-inclusive holiday, including all meals, accommodation, ferries, tuition, materials and a wonderful field trip day out. You will not have to put your hand in your pocket after you pay your fee of €750. The timetable for the workshop offers plenty of variety - drawing, painting, exploration of different techniques and materials, life drawing, demonstrations, artists’ talks and a field trip to Heir Island, a neighbouring island. Numbers are restricted to no more than 12 people for a more intimate atmosphere and to encourage the sharing of ideas and experiences as the group makes art together. You will be delighted with your very own studio space in the island’s hall with easel and unlimited materials. This will be your base to work from, or come back to after drawing in the beautiful island landscape. As you will be resident on the island for your stay, you will have plenty of time for relaxing, pleasant walks and swimming (there are several safe, sandy beaches and coves on the island). From 2011 a much requested portfolio preparation course will also be offered on Sherkin Island. Details of this, past participants testimonials and the summer workshops are available on our website.
