Looking beyond the man-made skyscrapers and other constructions that have popped up with increasing speed in recent years, you may not have thought the UAE's habitat amounted to much more than sand and sea. But this natural history museum puts the spotlight on the region's unique flora and fauna. Interactive exhibits reveal the UAE's desert and marine ecosystems, and there is also a botanical center, children's farm, and Arabian Wildlife Centre. The latter houses an impressive display of indigenous and endangered Arabian animals, such as the Arabian leopard, which is on the verge of extinction.
