Londonderry, Londonderry,

About

Under the terms of the Plantation of the newly created County of Londonderry by King James I from 1609, the area surrounding Eglinton then called Muff was granted to the Grocers Company, one of the twelve London Companies granted land in this region. Although little remains here of the 17th century above ground except for the ruined church, a 1622 picture map shows the village at that time consisted of a number of elements. These included a walled bawn with a corner flanking towers and a large house withslated roof (now ruined) is proudly displayed with its cut stone window on the west gable.
