About
Serye Cafe Filipino has many branches but since I live in the south of the city, the Sucat and Alabang branches are closest to me. It's sister restaurant, Aristocrat, is better known amongst Filipinos, but I find Serye much better suited to more intimate or smaller gatherings. There are two things on the menu that I would consider absolute essentials at Serye: the boneless crispy pata (pork trotter) and the sinigang na bangus belly. Both are home-grown authentic Filipino dishes, but Serye is the only place in town I know of that actually serves crispy pata deboned. No more hassle (and loss of poise) in having to gnaw the meat off the bone--their version has succulent and moist meat with perfectly crunchy skin on the outside. The sinigang has just the right amount of asim (sourness) expected of the dish, and the serving is generous with bangus (milkfish) belly that simply melts in the mouth. If you're the type of person who likes to combine or match dishes to better bring out the intensity of flavors, then this resto is for you. Prices are mid-range.
