All that is left of this 12th century fortress is a fallen tower. It once belonged to the Order of the Knights of Templar who made their wealth guarding Jerusalem from the Muslim hordes. They were charged with heresy by the French king Philip the Beautiful who was much in debt to them. With the backing of the pope, who also owed the Templar Knights much money, the order was dissolved and all properties confiscated.
