Semper Depot has a long and illustrious history, beginning in 1874 when the construction of this historical building began. It was first constructed by Gottfried Semper and Karl Hasenauer. More than 100 years later, BIG (Bundes Immobilien Gesellschaft), a major Austrian property developer, took it upon itself to renovate this architectural gem. The renovation was completed in 1995 and Semper Depot now functions as the "Atelierhaus der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien" (Viennese Arts Academy Studio House). The building is also used regularly for large meetings.
