About

San Francisco magazine created quite a fuss when they named this the "best sushi in the country:" Neighborhood regulars could no longer get a table in the subdued 25-seat due to the lines out the door. Be sure to make a rez or show up when they open their doors to get a taste of fish rarely seen inside the U.S. (most ingredients are flown in daily from Japan and the menu is dependent on what's available). Sit at the bar to watch owners/chefs Michael Black and Daniel Dunham prepare sayori (half beak), seared kurodai (daurade) or delicate shiro ebi (baby white shrimp). Everything changes on Sunday when they serve only izakaya (think pub food, Japanese style).
