Sea Dolphin (Dolphin Yam)

9 Ben Shitah St Cuisines: Seafood

About

It used to be hard to find good fish in a Jerusalem restaurant. Now, this moderately priced, nonkosher establishment (owned by a family that's been bringing fresh fish from the coast up to Jerusalem for decades) serves a wide range of seafood as well as very fresh grilled or fried fish. It's stylish but very informal, and always busy. Each main course comes with a large, refillable meze of 10 salads and appetizers, but there are also good seafood soups and fresh fish and seafood appetizers. You have your choice of many simple and complex sauces with main courses, but if you order fish, I'd ask for the sauce on the side and use just enough so that the freshness of the fish is not overwhelmed. Remember to ask for local fish that is sure to be fresh. There are lunch specials and discounts (and a smattering of meat and veggie choices for those who don't eat things from the sea).
