Savannas Recreation Area

The campground is situated between US-1 and the Atlantic Ocean. It's too far away to actually hear or see the ocean, but no more than a 2 minute drive to be able to see water. The drive in on Indian River Drive is beautiful, with water, docks, and boats on one side and incredible houses on the other. Nearly motionless creek full of wildlife. There are a few gators, a lot of really vocal frogs, and tons of birds (primarily egrets and sandhill cranes). Picnic tables, hiking trails, fishing and playground equipment are available year round at this beautiful 550-acre preserve. RV or tent camping is available year round. Kayak/canoe rentals are available year round, (bring your own kayak/canoe) providing access to tranquil waters, so paddlers can observe wildlife in their natural habitat. Featuring a large covered pavilion with a kitchen and restrooms, Palm Island is a beautiful location for your next outdoor party or family reunion.
