Saraighat Bridge is the first of its kind a rail-cum-road bridge built over the river Brahmaputra in Assam. Saraighat Bridge is the vital link between North East region and the rest of the country. Built immediately after the Indo-Chinese war it has already completed 50 years of its existence in 2012. The bridge has a national highway on top and railway tracks below. National highways 31 & 27 run on this Bridge to and from Guwahati.
