About
Sandpiper Golf Course in Santa Barbara stretches across a parcel of land with a rich history. In 1927, the site was used for crude oil production and at its peak there were 25 wells on the site. Oil production ended in 1965 and a few years later it was developed into the golf course that exists today, but you can still see remnants of the infrastructure from its former use. The seaside course plays right down to the shore, offering great views and some intimidating shots. Depending on the weather that day, the coastal breezes can play a major role during your round. Water comes into play throughout, including several holes that play right along the coast, but the final hole is perhaps the most memorable water hole. This tough par 3 features an island green.
