Most people drive right past Guadalupe, a small farming community about 20 miles south of Pismo Beach. That's a shame, because they’re missing out on a cluster of genuine Mexican restaurants. The creme de la creme, Nardo’s is by far one of the best. Chef Lupe Baro turns out all kinds of mouthwatering dishes; the restaurant has become justifiably famous for its chile rellenos, enormous Anaheim chiles stuffed with Jack and cheddar cheeses. Nardo’s isn’t a big place—four booths and a six-seat counter—so you can expect a wait. The Baro family has owned the restaurant since 1985, so they’ve had time to build a loyal following. Insider's Tip: Sunday’s special is Lupe’s authentic chicken mole, well on its way to sharing some of the fame.
