Saffron's

About

Small, classy and dignified, Saffron's (formerly Klein's) is well worth a visit to experience their fabulous international fare. The twin dining rooms focus on an African wildlife mural by Christopher Lorentz. Design details include a sand-blasted rhinoceros on a glass divider, two-tone maple panelling, art deco sconce lights, blue-sky ceilings with down lights, Italian bentwood armchairs with animal print upholstery and gilt-framed still lifes by Austrian artist Johann Tripolt, which are for sale. Expect a classy, but unpretentious mix of Continental classics with Cape Malay traditionals and a touch of the East. From the Cape sambal prawns to tomato bredie to Zuercher geschnetzeltes with rosti, there will definitely be something to sate your appetite. The wine list is small but sufficient.
