Rukmini Mandir

Rukmini temple, is a very old beautiful temple, that is dedicated to Rukmini - Lord Krishna's wife. The temple walls have some very beautiful carvings and sculptures of animals, gods, goddesses etc.

Rukmini temple is located about 2 km from Jagat Mandir, and there is a legend behind it. It is said that Krishan and Rukmini went to Rishi Durvasa to invite him for dinner at Dwarka. Rishi Durvasa asked them to pull his chariot if they want him to come. Lord Krishna and Rukmini agreed happily, on their way Rukmini started feeling thirsty and lord Krishna prodded his feet in the ground to draw a spring of water. Rukmini took a sip of water without offering to Rishi Durvasa, which angered him. Annoyed by her impoliteness Rishi Durvasa cursed Rukmini that she would be separated from her beloved husband. Hence, Rukmini temple is 2 km away from Dwarka's Jagat Mandir.
