Restaurant Les Fleurs

Vernon Cuisines: French

About

Capably managed by Michel and Annie Graux, this pleasant, popular restaurant does a large percentage of its business with art lovers. The Claude Monet Foundation is just across the river in Giverny. On the main street of Vernon, 4.8km (3 miles) southwest of the museum, the restaurant focuses on flavorful, familiar cuisine bourgeoise that many diners remember fondly from their childhoods. Chef Michel served an apprenticeship with culinary megastar Alain Ducasse. Menu items include fresh fish such as sea bass served with saffron sauce and a flavorful risotto of the day, and sweetbreads braised with Parmesan. Other dishes include an array of homemade terrines and pâtés; fresh scallops with lobster-flavored cream sauce; a platter devoted to different preparations of duckling; and a variety of meats grilled, simply and flavorfully, à la plancha.
