About
Ali Boukhsay has been welcoming travelers -- a lot of them in big tour buses -- into his restaurant for his years. A large, compoundlike area consisting of two separate but adjoining salons and a large outdoor Bedouin tent, the "Star of the South" pumps out very Moroccan dishes from noon 'til late every day. Diners have a range of choices from a set menu that includes the specialties of beef tagine with prunes and local almonds and a very tasty harira soup. If you come in the morning, you can order a chicken pastilla (150dh/$19/£9) for the evening meal. The decor and furniture have definitely seen better days, but the crowds keep coming hungry and leaving satisfied. Alcohol is served, but you can also bring your own.
