About
The building containing this restaurant is more than 200 years old, making it the oldest on the street. Centrally located near the Clock Tower, it offers dinner guests a chance to stop for an aperitif in the ground-floor bar before proceeding upstairs to the richly paneled and sculpture-filled dining room. The chef prepares French cuisine with a definite Swiss/German influence. Dishes include potpourri of seafood with Pernod, saffron-flavored sole, citrus-flavored veal, and those old reliables, tournedos Rossini and veal kidney flambé, that have appeared on French menus forever. The cuisine is satisfying, especially on a cold day, but not particularly imaginative. The kitchen is talented, and local produce is deftly handled.
