Rathlin Island, the most northerly inhabited island in Ireland, now boasts four more new quality walks. The new walks join the already existing Rathlin Trail and Roonivoolin Walk to provide just under 20 miles of walking on the island. Rathlin island is practically traffic-free, apart from a view low-speed vehicles used by local residents. Cars are not permitted on the island and the passenger ferry from Ballycastle takes around 40 minutes. There is currently a small hostel, a bed & breakfast and a variety of self-catering accommodation on Rathlin Island. The National Trust are currently carrying out maintenance on the Guest House which is currently closed. For more information on Rathlin click here.Ballyconaghan Trail - This 1.8 mile circular walk will take walkers through National Trust land in the north of the island providing stunning views out to the Atlantic and Scotland. Kebble Cliff Walk - Taking in the south of the island with stunning views of dramatic sea cliffs and of Ballycastle beyond, this 1.9 mile circular walk passes Bull Point, near to where Richard Branson crash landed his hot air balloon in 1987, on his record breaking transatlantic flight.Kinramer North Walk - For the more intrepid rambler, the 2.1 mile circular walk also through Kebble Nature Reserve features sections through rough terrain, with steep slopes providing walkers with amazing views of dramatic sea cliffs. Kinramer Trail - This 1.9 mile circular walk crosses open field, boardwalk and cliff top with views of basalt columns, the same in structure to those found at the Giant’s Causeway.
