The temple of Maha Ganpati is very close to the centre of the town Ranjangaon. Ranjangaoncha Mahaganapati is considered to be one of the Ashta Vinayak shrines of Maharashtra, celebrating eight instances of legends related to Ganesha. You will be surprised to know that the idol of these lord Ganesh is also named as 'Mahotkat', and it is said that the idol has 10 trunks and 20 hands.
Mahaganapati temple is believed to have come to the aid of Shiva in destroying the citadels of the demon Tripurasura.
