The Rajaji National Park is home to the Asiatic elephant, Leopard, Tiger,Sambhar deer, cheetal, Rhesus Macaque, Langoor, Kaleej Pheasant, wild boar and many other animals and plants.The Chilla gate is the closest to Rishikesh. One has to drive about 8 km from Rishikesh via the barrage bridge towards Chilla. The safaris begin in the afternoon and entry into the park closes at 3pm. Entry is restricted and one has to pay a fee and collect the receipt at the gate. Jeeps for the safari accompanied by professional guides are available at the gate. It is a wonderful experience driving through the park and seeing the animals in their natural habitat.
