Quanzhou Taiwan Friendship Museum (Quanzhou Ming Tai Bowuguan)
North section of Bei Qing Lu
About
Both inside and outside, the design of this museum is equally impressive. The exterior seems to spread to fill as much area as possible while inside are three galleries of exquisite Minnan mosaic designs. The content of the displays, though, is just laughable. Here are a few examples, just so you are not expecting any objective descriptions; "[Fujian Migrants] turned Taiwan from a wasteland into a rich and popular island"; "Taiwan has been part of China's territory from everlasting." And the Japanese: "A handful of scum of a nation who betrayed their ancestors and country." Similar venomous, racist comments fill all the displays. In the main foyer, is an 18m-high (59-ft.) gunpowder painting by a local artist that was created for the opening ceremony in May 2007, with the legend "Same wood, same seed, same root." My advice Ignore the propaganda and enjoy the art.
