Pura Taman Ayun is a literal translation of the Indonesian phrase, garden of the mind. This temple of carved wood and stone is a fascinating shrine to the local gods. It is surrounded by a moat and the inner courtyard which contains many shrines is cordoned off to protect it from daily wear and tear. This is a working temple so you will see many villagers come to worship with offerings of food and flowers. Another reason to come are the lush and tropical gardens in the temple grounds. Location is in the village of Mengwi about 18 kms from Denpasar. There is a small entrance fee.
