Prashar Lake is situated at a distance of 49 km from Mandi. This sacred beautiful lake is named after the great sage Prashar who is believed to have meditated in this region. Located at an elevation of 2730 m above sea level in a valley, this lake offers a 360 degree view of snow covered mountains. The depth of the lake is unknown but is considered to be very deep and has a floating island on it. Prashar temple, an ancient temple dating back to the 13th century, is located close to the lake. Dedicated to sage Prashar, this three storied temple built in Pagoda style is one of the finest examples of hill architecture and is believed to be built using wood from a single tree. It has beautiful wood carvings and a roof made of slate tiles.
