About

Constructed together with the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in 1892-1893, the theatre's power station was also designed by the same architect, Jan Zawiejski, who enclosed it inside what looked like an attractive, eclectic villa. The power station generated direct current for lighting the stage and theatre interiors. Besides these, it served the theatre as a painting workshop. It was only the second power generating plant to be established in Poland. It continued to service the theatre until 1906, when the theatre began to be supplied by the municipal power plant in the Kazimierz District. Today it is home to the Miniatura Theatre.
