Planetarium Foundation of Rio de Janeiro City( Planetarium ) is a municipal company, linked to the Department of Culture.Founded on November 19 of 1970,named "Planetarium Rio", in Gavea.Changing its name to"Planetarium Foundation of the City of Rio de Janeiro" in 1993 .The institution has two domes in operation: Carl Sagan, who is 23 meters in diameter and 263 seats, houses the planetary model Universarium VIII TD, and Galileo Galilei, with 12.5 meters in diameter and 90 seats and has a digital immersion system.
