About
Along Weld Quay are the historical waterfront and the harbor of Penang, where bustling wharf activity takes place and the ferry terminal is found. The Victoria Memorial Clocktower, built from 1897-1902, greets you at the entrance. Beyond the tower sit white-washed waterfront colonial buildings, the Penang Port Commission and Swettenham Pier, the main wharves servicing cargo ships, liners, and ferries to Pulau Langkawi and Sumatra. The Barter Trade Centre is further down at Weld Quay 2. The port also provides a 24-hour ferry service to Butterworth on the mainland.
