Pasticceria Ulcigrai
Via Petronio, 1/a
About
This is a cake shop with a capital C. Here, they make extraordinary delicacies which are sold throughout the city. Everyone knows about this shop and it is not hard to understand why. Located in enchanting Muggia, on the outskirts of the province (around 20 minutes from the city center), you will find the best in Triestes and Central Europe's sweetmeats, from the fave (almonds, rose syrup and chocolate) to the Putizza with encrusted honey. From the fritole (fritters with pine nuts, typical of Carnival time) to the pinza, a soft bread eaten at Easter. And many more items beside. For a gastronomic souvenir of Trieste you are definitely in the right place. If you can, come by car as the bus is a bit awkward.
