Parc des Cropettes
rue Baulacre 8About
Parc des Cropettes of 33,000 square meters, is situated in the Montbrillant area just behind the main railway station Cornavin. It is named after the Cropet family who owned the land in the 17th century. In 1859 a piece of this land was given to the city to create a promenade and a fountain. Later, in 1873, the rest of the land was put up for sale and thanks to the wealth of the Duke of Brunswick, the city of Geneva was able to buy it. A pond in the shape of a crescent moon occupies the central part of the park and in the shade of the plane trees a pitch for bowls, French style, has been created.
