Palani Hills

 Palani Hills is one of the most frequented excursions from Kodaikanal. The Palani Hills form the eastern fringe of the mountainous Western Ghats. The hills form the watershed of the River Vaigai which has its basin in the south and the River Amaravathi which forms the north basins. With a different climate from that of the rest of Tamil Nadu, the Palani Hills make an exciting detour from the hill town of Kodaikanal. The Shola forest covers most of the area in the Palani Hills. The forested area is rich in the growth of variegated species of animals and plants.
