Cuisines: Italian, Pizza
About
This popular spot, beloved by locals and Italian vacationers alike, is tucked into a nook of a piazza with a tiny outdoor eating area shaded by vines. The rambling interior consists of tiny rooms with three to five tables each, so the overall effect is cozy. Pizzas come bubbling hot from a wood-fired oven, or you can try risotto enriched with porcini, persico (lake perch), or rucola e gamberetti (arugula and tiny shrimp). The spaghetti montecarlo puts on airs with its caviar and salmon cream sauce, while the crespelle valdostane comes back down to earth with a rib-sticking combo of ham and cheese wrapped in sheets of homemade pasta. Second courses are straightforward: tagliata al rosmarino (sirloin steak scented with rosemary), filetto di persico alle mandorle (broiled lake perch filet under almonds), or fresh grilled i sogliola (sole) or orata (bream).
