Osteria da Fiorella

Along Ben Yehuda Street Cuisines: Italian

About

This excellent nonkosher restaurant serves "vera cucina italiana" (authentic Italian cuisine) prepared by a family that immigrated to Israel from Rome in the early 1980s. There are two sparkling floors divided into cozy dining areas. The menu has most of the traditional Italian dishes, plus special Roman-Jewish home-style treats such as straccotto (veal slowly cooked for Shabbat). The house Fiorella sauce, made with four cheeses, tomato, and vodka, is a wonderful creation. Ask about daily fish specials. For dessert, look into the Roman-Jewish-style cheesecake.
