Orrefors Inn
Hwy. 22, Orrefors
About
We like to dine here for an authentic "taste of Sweden." Set in the center of the cluster of glass factories that have always dominated the economy of Orrefors, this historic inn was established in 1898; today the wood-sided building and its four dining rooms remain very similar to the originals -- the space calls to mind a rustic farmhouse. You'll dine on a menu that's unrelentingly Swedish and in many ways authentic to the cuisine that many locals remember from childhood. Menu items include grilled salmon or steak served on a wooden platter, Swedish meatballs with brown sauce and roasted potatoes, and local moose steak with forest mushrooms and boiled potatoes. Don't expect the grand or experimental cuisine you might find in Stockholm; instead, you'll get rib-sticking fare that can perk you up for a round of glass shopping at any of the nearby gift shops.
