On Thursday, 9 January 2014, Introdans presents the double bill Oorlog&Vrede (War&Peace) at the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam.Modern dance with a classic twistFocusing on struggles and oppression, Introdans performs the 1932 anti-war choreography The Green Table by Kurt Jooss. Its eight scenes offer a moving commentary on the meaninglessness of war and all its horrors, showing marching soldiers, mourning women, a greedy war profiteer and the always looming death. Its accompanying music is performed live on two pianos.No Longer SilentThe show also includes a performance of American choreographer Robert Battle’s No Longer Silent. The entire Introdans cast will take to the stage to dance to music by the Czech composer Erwin Schulhoff, whose work was banished by the Nazi regime.[Photo copyright of Introdans and Hans Gerritsen]
